Compilation, prepared with CRS assistance, of study papers reviewing the
economy of the People's Republic of China (PRC), in terms of status,
outlook, and implications for U.S. economic and foreign policy.
Examines PRC transition towards a market economy since 1978 under the
leadership of Deng Xiaoping, and presents estimates for PRC 1996-2010
economic performance based on projections regarding the possibility of a
continued transition to a more advanced market economy under the economic
reform movement begun in 1994.
