 Hearings before the Subcom on Human Rights and International Organizations,
 the Subcom on Asian and Pacific Affairs, the Subcom on International
 Economic Policy and Trade, and the Subcom on International Operations to
 examine implications for U.S. policy of United Kingdom planned 1997 return
 of Hong Kong to People's Republic of China (PRC) sovereignty, as mandated by
 the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration (J.D.) agreement on the future of
 Hong Kong.
   Considers S. 1731 and companion H.R. 3522 (text, p. 171-186), both the
 U.S.-Hong Kong Policy Act of 1991, to establish a legal framework for U.S.
 policy towards Hong Kong.
   Includes transcript (p. 123-163) of July 22 markup sessions held by the
