Hearing before the Subcom on Public Lands, National Parks, and Forests to
consider the following bills:
S. 477 (text, p. 5-13), the National Atomic Museum Act of 1991, to
recognize the National Atomic Museum operated by DOE in Albuquerque,
N.Mex. as the official atomic museum of the U.S.
S. 628 (text, 14-16), the Boots and Saddles: Historic New Mexico Forts
Study Act of 1991, to direct BLM and the National Park Service to
conduct a study on methods for preserving and interpreting seven
historic military forts in New Mexico.
S. 772 (text, 17-19), the Chacoan Outliers Protection Act of 1991, to
designate additional sites outside the Chaco Culture National Historical
Park in New Mexico for archeological protection.
S. 855 (text, 20-21), the Korean War Veterans War Memorial Amendments Act
of 1991, to extend until Oct. 28, 1993, the deadline for American Battle
Monuments Commission to obtain a Department of Interior permit to
construct a memorial in D.C. to honor U.S. armed services members who
served in the Korean War.
S. 867 (text, p. 22-28), the White Sands Fair Compensation Act of 1991, to
establish a White Sands Fair Compensation Commission to evaluate claims
and authorize additional compensation to ranchers and miners whose land
was taken by the U.S. during WWII in order to establish the White Sands
Missile Range in New Mexico.
S. 1117 (text, p. 29-38), the Bureau of Land Management Foundation Act, to
establish the BLM Foundation, a nonprofit private corporation, to
receive gifts and donations in support of BLM activities.
