Consumer Protection, and Competitiveness to consider H.R. 787, the Fair
Trade and Export Expansion Act of 1991 (text, p. 4-10), to amend the Trade
Act of 1974 to extend through 1995 Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of
1988 expired provisions requiring the Office of the U.S. Trade
Representative to identify major foreign trade barriers, negotiate
agreements to end trade barriers, and impose import restrictions if
negotiations fail.
Also examines need for H.R. 787 in opening Japanese markets to U.S.
businesses.
