 Report, prepared by CIA for the Subcom on Technology and National Security,
 assessing People's Republic of China (PRC) economic performance in 1988-89
 and the outlook for continued economic reforms.
   Examines reasons for and Government policy responses to recent PRC

 Government efforts to reassert political and economic control following
 Apr.-June 1989 political protests.
   Appendices (p. 19-33) include a review of PRC economic performance in
 1988-89 by sector, including industry, agriculture, U.S.-PRC and Soviet-PRC
