 Hearing before the Subcom on Human Rights and International Organizations
 and the Subcom on Asian and Pacific Affairs to assess political developments
 in South Korea and movement toward a more democratic system.
   Includes transcript (p. 135-137) of May 21 Subcom on Asian and Pacific
 Affairs markup session on H. Con. Res. 261, to express congressional support
 for full democracy in South Korea. Amended bill was favorably reported. Also
 considers a draft resolution to express congressional support for
 improvement of human rights in North Korea. Bill was favorably reported.
   Also includes transcript (p. 139-152) of June 5 full committee markup
 session on H. Con. Res. 345 (text, p. 140-143), to express the sense of
 Congress that political stability and human rights in South Korea would best
 be served by rapid progress toward full democracy. Bill was favorably
 reported.
   Markup session also considers H. Con. Res. 347 (text, p. 148-150), to
 express the sense of Congress that North Korea should take action to reduce
 tension with South Korea, agree to international recognition for both
