Sugar to examine the causes of delays in South Korean fulfillment of 1981
agreement to purchase 500,000 tons of California rice. Examines Comet Rice,
Inc., contract with South Korea for quantities of rice exceeding Comet Rice
supplies, and allegations of related unfair business practices and use of
political influence. Also examines problems preventing sale of rice to South
Korea by California cooperative growers through Comet Rice or through
Connell Rice and Sugar Co.
Reps. Bill Alexander (D-Ark) and William M. Thomas (R-Calif) participate
in questioning witnesses.
