 Hearings before the Subcom on Asian and Pacific Affairs to assess
 implementation of the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, which established a
 nongovernmental American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) to maintain unofficial
 U.S. commercial, cultural, and other relations with Taiwan.
   Supplementary material (p. 38-41, 93, 107) includes submitted statements,
 article, and H. Res. 708 (text, p. 107), to express concern over political
 activist arrests and trials subsequent to Dec. 10, 1979 rally in Kaohsiung,
