 Hearings before the Subcom on Asian and Pacific Affairs to examine effects
 on U.S.-Taiwan relations of normalization of relations between U.S. and the
 People's Republic of China (PRC).
   Considers H.R. 1614, the Administration bill, to maintain U.S. relations
 with Taiwan in the absence of formal diplomatic ties through activities of
 the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT).
   Also considers H.J. Res. 167 and similar S.J. Res. 31, expressing U.S.
 interest in the overall security of Taiwan.
   Includes preface (p. iii-vii) and transcript (p. 27-28) of subcom
 consideration of resolution (text, p. 27) requesting commutation of death
 sentence for former Pakistan Prime Minister Ali Bhutto.
