 Hearing before the Subcom on International Organizations and the Subcom on
 Asian and Pacific Affairs to examine circumstances surrounding the Dec. 1975
 armed intervention by Indonesia in East Timor following the premature
 withdrawal of Portuguese colonial forces and subsequent outbreak of
 hostilities between Fretilin pro-independence forces and elements favoring
 integration with Indonesia.
   Considers implications for continued U.S. aid of Indonesia's use of
 U.S.-supplied military equipment and possible extensive civilian casualties.
   Includes excerpt (p. 4-9) from Subcom on Asian and Pacific Affairs
 discussion on the East Timor situation, from transcript of Mar. 1977
