Hearings before the Subcom on Asian and Pacific Affairs to review U.S.
defense commitments in Asia in light of current domestic economic problems
and needs. Considers cost and strategic necessity of maintaining military
bases in Asia, advisability of reducing the number of troops stationed
there, and the future role of Asian nations in providing for their own
defense.
