CPASセミナーのお知らせ
当センターでは、パリ第8大学のBertrand van Ruymbeke教授をお招きし、18世紀末革命前後のフランスにおけるアメリカ革命観に関する研究セミナーを以下の要領で開催いたします。教授は、フランスにおける初期アメリカ史・大西洋史の分野を牽引する研究者で、現在は合衆国における同分野の主要学術誌William and Mary Quarterlyの評議員も務めておられます。
なお本セミナーは、Globalizing American Studies Seminars の一環として開かれるもので、アメリカ研究振興会の後援をいただいておりますことを申し添えます。皆様のご参加をお待ちいたします。
題目：“The American Revolution seen through contemporaneous French eyes: Académies and publications (1770-1800)"

報告概要：
In the second half of the eighteenth century French Académies organized prize-winning contests on a wide variety of issues in agriculture， law， urbanism， medicine， sciences， letters， and history. Contests were immensely popular and generated or reflected nationwide debates to which many participated including the philosophes. In the 1770s and 1780s a number of them offered to discuss the consequences of the discovery of the New World and the impact of the American Revolution on Europe. Contests on the American Revolution in particular fostered a publication trend on the United States which started in the late 1770s and eventually led to Tocqueville’s seminal work in the 1830s. This presentation seeks to discuss the contests of the 1770s and 1780s and examine the development of these French publications until the early decades of the nineteenth century.

当センター（CPAS）では、パリ第8大学アメリカ史・アメリカ文明講座教授のBertrand van Ruymbeke教授をお招きし、下記の要領で、アメリカ史教育に関する国際ワークショップを開催いたします。大学生にアメリカ史を教える意義、あるいはまたその方法について、ヨーロッパ各国の事例を研究されている教授と知見を交わす貴重な機会です。
なお、本ワークショップはGlobalizing American Studiesシリーズの一つとして開催され、アメリカ研究振興会から後援をいただいております。ご予約は不要ですので、奮ってご参加ください。

題目：Australia's 'Pearl-Harbor' and the Reconciliation of History: Australian-Japanese Relations in Australia's North
要旨：In 2018， President Shinzo Abe made an historic visit to Darwin， acknowledging those who died in the Japanese raids on that town during World War II， and expressing his commitment to the strategic partnership between Australia and Japan and to prosperity and peace. This paper considers the histories and heritage of Japanese-Australian relations in northern Australia.

講師略歴：Professor Kate Darian-Smith is Professor， Executive Dean and Pro-Vice-Chancellor， College of Arts， Law and Education at the University of Tasmania， and a cultural historian of Australia whose many books and other publications have examined the histories of the city， migration， war， childhood. memory and cultural heritage. She has had a long association with Australian Studies in Japan， and served two terms on the Board of the Australia-Japan Foundation.
