 Hearings to determine whether Members of the House of Representatives or
 their immediate families or associates accepted anything of value, directly
 or indirectly, from the Government of Korea.
   Preliminary phase of the investigation, presented in this volume, focuses
 on the formulation of an official Korean plan to influence Members of
 Congress which was allegedly effectuated in the spring of 1973.
   Central to the alleged plan is Tongsun Park, a Korean businessman
 residing in the U.S., charged with convincing the Korean Central
 Intelligence Agency (KCIA) to make him exclusive agent in Korean Government
 purchases of rice from American sellers, and allegedly using "sales
 commissions" from rice sales for cash payments to Congressmen to create a
 more favorable atmosphere for South Korean interests.
   Nonwitnesses frequently discussed in this volume are identified below by
 their affiliations previous to and/or during the spring of 1973.
 a. Yang Doo Won (alias Lee Sang Ho), Washington chief of the KCIA.
 b. Kim Dong Jo, Korean ambassador to the U.S.
 c. Hancho C. Kim, Korean-born businessman residing in the U.S., recruited
